I have been a professional silk painter for over 20 years now. It is a practice that continually challenges me, surprises me, and brings me great joy. My design studio is in downtown Wenatchee, WA.
My Process:
I start with white silk charmeuse that is known for its luxurious drape, deep luster, and strength of fiber. The silk is stretched, like a canvas, on a steel frame and held in place with magnets. The colors and designs are then applied directly to the silk surface, by hand, using bamboo brushes and traditional silk painting techniques. Each piece of silk is an signed original that is then cut and sewn into custom made wearables, baby blankets, scarves, capes or shawls.
I am available for private commissions, installations, and unique custom wearables. I also welcome opportunities to demonstrate my craft at events or teach small groups in my studio.
