My mixed media paintings include pattern, human form, and transparent layers of color to create depth and atmospheric light. I use pattern as a way to blend interior & exterior spaces. I express a deep love and concern for the place I call home by including aspects of this familiar environment like the plants, animals, and landforms enmeshed in a human story of dependency, escape, and everyday enlightenment.
In addition to making original paintings, I take commissions including portraits, murals, and illustration and teach painting classes for WVCC’s Continuing Education Program. I served for two years on the NCW Arts Alliance board as one of its founding members.
