Ginny Martin

I was reared on the Chesapeake Bay and lived there until I was 21. Much of my childhood and young adulthood was spent near or on the water playing, swimming, crabbing, fishing, sailing, or boating. I taught swimming and lifeguarded for over 10 + years. I still miss the bay and the smell of the water.
My degree was in music from Old Dominion University. I never got to teach music because my husband was military and we moved constantly. I did get to direct church choirs and English Handbell choirs. I also had the pleasure of being able to sing with the Heidelberg Bach choir, Germany.
My family moved to East Wenatchee permanently in 1994 where I was introduced to Ruth E. Allan by taking her ceramic class. Her knowledge and passion for ceramics took hold of me and I have never looked back. I have been with Ruth ever since until she retired this year. I love the feel of the clay, its versatility, the way it can bring people together, and the joy it brings to those who feel they aren’t capable of doing art. I look forward to seeing the art community grow and evolve in Wenatchee.
