About Waymaking:
Waymaking is a juried exhibition of 35 pieces representing the work of 28 artists. The materials and media are diverse, including sculptural ceramics, furniture, artist books, collage, glass mosaic, mixed media sculpture, hand-dyed and stitched textiles, print-making, and paintings in oils, acrylic, and watercolor. Each work was selected for its resonance with the unifying theme of Waymaking. Art has the power to inspire, provoke thought, and evoke emotion, but also forges connections and creates pathways within communities. Artistic expression serves as a universal language that transcends boundaries, bringing people together and fostering a sense of belonging and shared purpose. In the embrace of community, individuals find support and encouragement to explore new horizons, learning about their expressive capacities together through the possibilities and constraints of craft. The body of work exhibited represents a community of artists, and the work itself illustrates the process of finding or making one’s way, both together and individually.
