Yes, poetry matters! Explore how and why in this generative workshop. We’ll focus on a few craft elements, write some lines, and read and discuss some key poems. This workshop is for poets and writers at any level, and for readers who want to gain a better appreciation for poetry.

Susan Blair is a poet, writer and arts event organizer in Wenatchee. Her full-length poetry collection, A Howling, was published by Press 53 as a Tom Lombardo Poetry Selection. She is the recipient of a 2023 Artist Trust GAP grant. Her chapbook, What Remains of a Life, was published by Finishing Line Press, and her poems have appeared in Spank the Carp, San Pedro River Review, Spillway 29, From Whispers to Roars and others. Susan founded and edits The Shrub-Steppe Poetry Journal, an annual anthology which highlights the work of North Central Washington poets. She wrote 26 “Poetry Matters” columns for The Good Life magazine, and hosts the “Third Thursday Poets” open mic. She has written five books of Perri the Poetry Fairy Presents Poems for Kids, which she presents in costume. Susan earned a BA in German and Russian from Middlebury College in Vermont.
