SUMMARY:Documentary Screening: Han\, Intergenerational Trauma and Collective Identity by Cymone Van Marter at Confluence Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Twisp\, WA — Confluence Gallery is proud to host an evening screening of Han\, Intergenerational Trauma and Collective Identity\, a thesis documentary by Cymone Van Marter\, a Liberty Bell High School graduate. The event will take place on Tuesday\, July 8\, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Confluence Gallery and is free and open to the public. Due to the nature of the historical content\, a 13+ age range is advised.\nVan Marter recently completed her Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television and East Asian Studies with an emphasis in Korean Language and Culture\, with a minor in Spanish. Her 25-minute documentary\, Han\, explores a uniquely Korean cultural concept born from centuries of war\, colonization\, and collective struggle. Through powerful interviews and curated historical archives\, she investigates how this inherited emotion continues to shape South Korean identity today. \n“My goal was to present Korean history and identity in a way that feels approachable and educational for an American audience\,” Van Marter said. “Han is unfamiliar to many in the West\, but understanding it opens a window into the broader human experiences of trauma\, resilience\, and cultural inheritance.”\nLight snacks and refreshments will be provided. Seating is first come\, first served. Attendees are advised that the film contains historical material that may be triggering for some.\nJoin us at Confluence Gallery for this thought-provoking and timely film event. \nMORE INFORMATION
