SUMMARY:Seen: Figure Studies by Student Artists (Reception)
DESCRIPTION:Seen is an exhibition of figure drawings created by WVC students engaging in the timeless practice of drawing from life. These works reflect hours of focused observation\, refinement\, and discovery. Each piece is both a study and a gesture of witness—offering not only an image of the human body\, but a record of the artist’s gaze\, presence\, and interpretation. \nDrawing from live figure models is a lasting foundational practice for artists\, both professionally and academically. It trains the eye to see with precision and the hand to respond with sensitivity. Working from life challenges artists to observe subtle shifts in anatomy\, proportion\, gesture\, and light. Beyond technique\, figure drawing cultivates patience\, presence\, and understanding\, inviting artists to engage with the body not as object\, but as living form. \nIn both historical and contemporary contexts\, figure drawing is an essential discipline for building visual literacy\, strengthening artistic technique\, and nurturing expressive potential. Figure Drawing is a staple in the WVC Art Department\, and a program we are proud to offer. \nThe Reception is September 5th\, but the exhibit will be on display from August 1st–September 26th.
