DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Silent Film and Pipe Organ Concert! \nOn Friday\, April 19th\, at 7 PM\, join us in a screening of Buster Keaton’s film “Go West\,” with live musical accompaniment by Thomas Kozina on the pipe organ. \nSilent film icon Buster Keaton both starred and directed in this western film\, with Keaton playing a drifter named “Friendless” as he journeys west to California to make his fortune. Watch as he wrangles cattle\, befriends a cow named “Brown Eyes\,” and orchestrates a series of hijinks along the way. \nTickets are $5 for members and $7 for non-members. Registration is recommended. \nPopcorn will be provided\, with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase.

DESCRIPTION:Get ready for WRI’s third annual Trashion Show! This fashion show will showcase wearable garments made from recycled materials and repurposed clothes. Come check out the creative pieces built by your neighbors! There will be four design team categories this year: adult\, high school\, youth\, and family. Prizes are available for each category\, plus a People’s Choice Award where audience members will get to vote for their favorite outfit.\n\nThis event is held outside on the WRI River Haus Lawn. Bring snacks\, a picnic blanket\, or camp chair to make yourself comfortable! We will have some chairs available as well. Local beer and wine\, and non-alcoholic beverages will be for sale during this event.\n\nREGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! Visit our website to walk down the green carpet (WRI’s lawn) today.\nNo registration is required to attend this event as an audience member. Just show up and enjoy the fun!

SUMMARY:Earth Day and Poetry Month Celebration at Wenatchee Valley College
DESCRIPTION:Author Kurt Caswell will be visiting Wenatchee Valley College on April 18th to help us celebrate Earth Day and Poetry Month. \nHe will be reading from his work from 7 pm to 8 pm in the Grove Recital Hall. Sharing the stage with him will be the student winners of WVC’s Annual Earth Day Poetry contest. Previous winning poems visible here \nKurt will be serving as the judge for this contest. \nFollowing the reading will be a book signing. Kurt’s most recent collections are Going to See\, Iceland Summer\, and Laika’s Window. \nMore information about Kurt \nAnd the new book\, Going to See \nIn addition to the reading\, Kurt is doing a walk and talk at Jacobson’s Preserve on April 18th from 3 PM to 4:30 PM.
