This event is about ceremony\, spirit\, healing the Mother Earth\, others and ourselves.\nAll ages and skill levels are welcome.\n\nWhat do you need?*DRUMS: Shamanic frame drums\, Djembes\, Bongos\, Ashikos\, Dun Duns etc. plus any rattles or shakers or other fun noisemakers you may have. The more the merrier! We will also have some drums and shakers available to borrow. Also bring your favorite songs and chants – or just join in with the simple songs we teach you.\n**BRING YOUR OWN CHAIR and/or BLANKET to be comfortable in the great outdoors.\n***WATER BOTTLE. Drumming can really activate your energy centers and hydration is important!\nIt is our goal to always leave a place better than we found it and want to leave no trace. DESCRIPTION:The Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center is partnering alongside the U.S. Forest Service to host a screening of The West is Burning on Thursday\, Sep. 12\, 7-9 PM. \nThe West is Burning raises awareness about the conditions of forests in the western U.S. Told through a full-feature documentary\, we examine the history of forest management and litigation that led to the current conditions causing catastrophic fires year-round. \nFunds from this event support the Museum’s mission-serving programs\, including featured exhibits\, MakerSpace\, robotics clubs\, field trips\, student scholarships\, community cultural events\, film and speaker series\, and collection restorations. \nAdmission is free for members and $5 for non-members. Registration is recommended. \nThe 2024-25 Film and Speaker Series is sponsored by Gesa Credit Union. This screening of The West is Burning is sponsored by the U.S. Forest Service. The more the merrier! We will also have some drums and shakers available to borrow. Also bring your favorite songs and chants – or just join in with the simple songs we teach you.\n**BRING YOUR OWN CHAIR and/or BLANKET to be comfortable in the great outdoors.\n***WATER BOTTLE. DESCRIPTION:Good Cause\nCoaster Art Project\nInstallation runs during December 2024 and January 2025 in Mela’s Back Hall Small Works Space. karendawndean will host the first session which will have an emphasis on doodling\, drawing and/or collage. \nFirst Mark Making Session: May 3rd\, 5-8pm during Wenatchee First Friday ArtWalk\nMela 17 N Wenatchee Ave.\nCost: $1 per blank coaster. \nWe invite you to donate your finished coaster to the cause. \nThe goal is to ‘wall paper’ the back hall with a mosaic of 1000 4”x4” community made pieces of Coaster Art\, all of which will available to purchase at $10 each. Proceeds will go to regional arts programming and/or individual artist’s efforts. \nEverything submitted will be hung on the wall. Mela plans on having 8 making sessions between now and when the show opens December 6\, 2024.\nThose sessions will be hosted by different artists with assorted making skills. \nThe coasters will be available to Mela patrons on an ongoing basis. \nBasic supplies will be provided\, but if you have a favorite marker\, pencil or pair of paper cutting scissors\, feel free to bring them.\nTake a Walk for the Arts each First Friday. \nHave fun on your walk about!\n~~~\nPS.
