SUMMARY:Poetry Open Mic
DESCRIPTION:Dear Poets and Poetry Lovers\, \n \nDue to the availability of Brian’s studio this month\, we’ve shifted our Third Thursday Poetry Open Mic to the Second Thursday.  \n \nThe details remain the same:\n \n\nWHEN:  Thursday\, November 13     4:30-6:00\n \nWHAT:  read your own poem(s)\, or someone else’s\, or just listen\n \nWHY:  because poetry is soul-food\n \nWHERE:   Brian’s studio is located on Columbia Street between Yakima & Kittitas Streets\n \nI suggest you park on Wenatchee Ave.\, walk down to Columbia\, and then walk through the metal gate.  Straight ahead you’ll see some stairs and a metal door.  You have arrived!  Ring the doorbell and someone will let you in.  (It may take a few seconds.)\n \nFeel free to bring snacks\, a beverage (alcoholic or non)\, and friends.  \n \nWe like to chat\, laugh\, discuss and be inspired by poetry and by each other.\n \nDonations help Brian keep the lights on – please consider expressing your thanks to him for the venue.\n \nI hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:Film & Lecture Series: Fish War
DESCRIPTION:The 2025-26 Film and Speaker Series presents: Fish War \nThe Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center is honored to host a screening of the award-winning documentary Fish War on Thursday\, Nov. 13\, at 6 PM. \nFilm Description: \nWhen the state of Washington made it illegal for tribes to fish for salmon in their usual and accustomed places\, it was a declaration of war. FISH WAR follows the tribes’ fight to exercise their treaty-reserved fishing rights. A landmark court case in 1974 would affirm the tribes’ treaty rights and establish them as co-managers of the resource\, but the fate of salmon in the Pacific Northwest still hangs in the balance. \nFollowing the screening\, the Indigenous Roots and Reparation Foundation (IRRF) will host a Q&A panel discussing the impacts of this film. \nAdmission is free for both WVMCC and tribal members and $5 for non-members. Registration is recommended. \nFunds from this event support the Museum’s mission-serving programs\, including featured exhibits\, MakerSpace\, robotics clubs\, field trips\, student scholarships\, community cultural events\, film and speaker series\, and collection restorations.  \nFish War was produced by Wenatchee-based documentary film company\, North 40 Productions. The 2025-26 Film & Speaker Series is supported by the City of Wenatchee and the City of East Wenatchee.
