SUMMARY:The Mini Quest Tavern presents "The Arcane Rift"
DESCRIPTION:The Mini Quest Tavern is a scripted play\, with costumes\, props\, sound\, and projections to help the audience imagine the locations in the story as the performers move through the room. There is a funny “DM” or Dungeon Master who tells the story\, introduces non-player characters and presides over the action and decisions being made. His word is law\, but if you are familiar with the “Dungeons and Dragons” rule book\, don’t expect this show to contain all the detailed rules and mechanics used in normal tabletop roleplaying. \nWe have a whole campaign\, and multiple combat encounters planned to complete in under two hours. We are here to entertain and make you laugh and cheer. Our simplified rule set is geared for the enjoyment of complete novice and experienced player alike. \nThe show is not for small children\, but great for teens and adults. Tickets are restricted to ages 10 & up. \nThere are two types of tickets. The VIP Player tables will choose the hero who will be their avatar in the show from a selection of ten different characters. They will be given character sheets for their hero\, and the player tables will then work together to make choices when they are presented\, and roll dice to use their talents and skills in battle. \nGeneral Admission ticket holders will sit at separate tables and will have the opportunity to help name characters and places\, and vote on the paths the story will take. The hero characters do not have scripts. They improvise their actions\, reactions\, battles and dialogue with the help of the players who tell them what to do. There are 14 talented local actors in this production.\nMany fans of our show enjoy attending in costume. This is welcome but not required. \n\nWebsite:\nhttps://www.facebook.com/miniquesttavern/ \nContact: \nminiquesttavern@gmail.com\n(509) 670-8233

SUMMARY:Silent Film Nights: Faust
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy timeless classics in this brand new film series! \nThe Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center invites you for a screening of the silent film Faust\, featuring a lecture from Wenatchee Valley College Professor Hart Johnson and live music on the Wurlitzer pipe organ by Thomas Kozina on Friday\, May 23\, 6-8 PM. \nReleased in 1926\, this silent fantasy film follows the story of Faust\, an alchemist who makes a pact with the demon\, Mephisto\, sending him on a journey filled with many perils\, temptations\, and love along the way. \nThis event is the final installment of a 3-part series focused on the work of German Expressionist filmmaker F. SUMMARY:Lit Mic: NCW's loudest open mic
DESCRIPTION:Join us for NCW’s loudest open mic: Lit Mic. \n\n\n\nJoin us every First Tuesday at Bushel & Bee Taproom in Leavenworth. 7pm to 9:30pm \n\n\n\nThis open mic is for writers of all types and stripes. Bring your poems\, essays\, excerpts\, short stories and more. Sign up on arrival to reserve your spot. Space is limited. \n\n\n\nThe key tenets of Lit Mic summarized: be kind and make some noise. \n\n\n\nThe slightly longer version: Art is personal and political. We are kind and respectful. Keep it real\, but keep it civil. We are here to celebrate art and artists. Check any pretentiousness and bad vibes at the door. We are NCW’s loudest open mic. Whistle\, clap\, cheer – show these writers some love. \n\n\n\nThis event is hosted by Holly Thorpe of Stark Consulting and Events. Questions? Contact Holly at starkncw@gmail.com.
