SUMMARY:Collaborative Effect: Prints by Natalie Dotzauer and Her Printmaking Students
DESCRIPTION:For October\, the MAC Gallery showcases products from WVC’s printmaking program\, with works by instructor Natalie Dotzauer and a range of students who have studied with her in recent years.  Even as other colleges and universities are paring back their offerings in printmaking\, the WVC Art Department remains committed to teaching these important media processes\, including instruction in Serigraphy\, Intaglio\, and Relief printmaking techniques. \n  \nCollaborative Effect: Prints by Natalie Dotzauer and Her Printmaking Students\n\nThe WVC Art Department is very proud of our commitment to our printmaking classes\, even as colleges elsewhere make the determination that their programs are too expensive or niche.  Our students are fortunate to have the rare opportunity to study a variety of printmaking processes in the MAC\, including relief\, intaglio\, and serigraphy.  These media are fun and historically significant\, and they expand students’ ideas about what is possible with their art.\n\nWVC’s printmaking studio helps students develop skills for producing multiples of the same image through a variety of techniques. This practice of repetition requires an understanding of sometimes complex processes of transferring ink to paper in a consistent way\, using specialized tools\, and taking into consideration differences in colors\, textures\, and backgrounds when creating the art. Constant repetition allows them to learn and develop as artists in a transformative way.\n\nOn display in the gallery are works from a range of processes\, done by practicing artists from a variety of backgrounds\, from novices to advanced printmakers. Working together collaboratively in the studio\, this shared studio experience and support infuses their work with a new level of creativity and energy. \nThe MAC Gallery is open 8am-5pm\, Monday – Friday. Exception: First Friday of each month hours are extended to 7pm.

SUMMARY:Film & Speaker Series: Wonderful\, Weird\, & Worrisome Objects in WA State Museums w/ Harriet Baskas
DESCRIPTION:The Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center is excited to collaborate with Humanities Washington for a night of Wonderful\, Weird\, and Worrisome Objects from our archives! \nJoin journalist Harriet Baskas as she unveils her life’s mission to find the oddest collection items tucked away in Washington State museums on Wednesday\, Sep. 24\, at 5:30 PM. \nMost museums display no more than 10 percent of their holdings\, often citing “not enough space” as the reason. But there are also a wide range of cultural\, philosophical\, political\, environmental\, historic\, and even superstitious reasons why museums keep some objects from public view. \nIn this talk\, explore a wide range of hidden objects found in the back rooms of museums in our state and around the country. Examples include a Spokane institution that holds Bing Crosby’s toupées and a museum in Lynden that’s home to a 150-year-old pickle. When possible\, we will have local museum curators on hand to answer questions\, participate in our discussions\, and unbox a few hidden treasures. \nThis event is free for everyone\, but registration is recommended. Doors open at 5 PM. \nFunds from this event support the Museum’s mission-serving programs\, including featured exhibits\, MakerSpace\, robotics clubs\, field trips\, student scholarships\, community cultural events\, film and speaker series\, and collection restorations. \nThe 2025-26 Film & Speaker Series is supported by the City of Wenatchee and the City of East Wenatchee. This event is brought to you by Humanities Washington.
