DESCRIPTION:Ron Evans\nPop-Cyclicle: Robots\, rayguns & remnants from a time or place that likely never existed.\n\nRon Evans\, a dynamic mixed-media artist rooted in East Wenatchee\, is driven by an unwavering and inexplicable passion for robots\, rayguns\, pinup\, mid-century design\, and pop culture. While his artistic journey began with acrylic paintings and pen & ink illustrations\, Evans has ventured into the realm of 3D artistry\, crafting intricate sculptures from paper\, wire and foamboard. \nWithin his creative philosophy\, 1960s kitsch\, nostalgic tacky motels\, Saturday morning cartoons\, and heavy metal album covers are elevated to the status of ‘fine art’. Evans strives to infuse his creations with both substance and a sense of approachability. \nIn 2015\, Evans opened a tiny art gallery in his home called RadarStation. The success of these shows – focusing mostly on lowbrow street art and pop-surrealism – led to a downtown gallery/bar/venue which operated from 2017-2019. In 2017\, Evans launched The Comet Magazine\, an alternative local-centric arts and entertainment monthly which continues to grow in readership and coverage. \nPop-cyclicle showcases some of the investigations\, interpretations and transgressions that occupy Evan’s creative mind. Wine\, beer\, and cider are available for purchase for patrons 21 years or older. \nThe Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center is open free to the public 4-8 PM on the First Friday of each month. \nThe 2024 Juried Art Show & Sale will be judged by Velocity Made Good founder Perri Lynch Howard\, CWU Campus Visits Manager Sarah Haven\, and WVMCC Board President Stephanie Stauffer. \nPerri Lynch Howard: Perri Lynch Howard is a multidisciplinary artist working in painting\, drawing\, installation\, and sound. Her work investigates the passage of light\, sound\, and signal through landscapes on the front lines of climate change—a phenomenology of place. Howards’ art has a global reach through exhibitions and sound installations completed in Italy\, Portugal\, Brazil\, Canada\, the Arctic Circle\, and in South India as a Fulbright Senior Research Scholar. She is a volunteer field recording ambassador with Quiet Parks International\, an avid adventurer\, and a private pilot. \nSarah Haven: While studying theatre as an undergrad\, Sarah Haven took a ceramics class on a whim\, and it changed the course of her life.  In 2003\, she relocated from Ohio to Washington for graduate school. Enthralled with the Pacific Northwest\, she decided to stay upon completing her MFA. After 12 exciting years at Gallery One Visual Arts Center\, a nonprofit in downtown Ellensburg\, Sarah recently returned to work at Central Washington University.  She relishes spending time-pinching pots in her basement studio as well as serving on the board of the Washington Clay Arts Association. Sarah’s pots are available at Saltstone Ceramics in Seattle\, WA\, and Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis\, MN.  \nStephanie Stauffer: Stephanie currently serves as board President of the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center. For close to twenty years\, she has worked as a lawyer\, and is currently employed by Starr Ranch as its general counsel. DESCRIPTION:Good Cause\nCoaster Art Project\nInstallation runs during December 2024 and January 2025 in Mela’s Back Hall Small Works Space. karendawndean will host the first session which will have an emphasis on doodling\, drawing and/or collage. \nFirst Mark Making Session: May 3rd\, 5-8pm during Wenatchee First Friday ArtWalk\nMela 17 N Wenatchee Ave.\nCost: $1 per blank coaster. \nWe invite you to donate your finished coaster to the cause. \nThe goal is to ‘wall paper’ the back hall with a mosaic of 1000 4”x4” community made pieces of Coaster Art\, all of which will available to purchase at $10 each. Proceeds will go to regional arts programming and/or individual artist’s efforts. \nEverything submitted will be hung on the wall. Mela plans on having 8 making sessions between now and when the show opens December 6\, 2024.\nThose sessions will be hosted by different artists with assorted making skills. \nThe coasters will be available to Mela patrons on an ongoing basis. \nBasic supplies will be provided\, but if you have a favorite marker\, pencil or pair of paper cutting scissors\, feel free to bring them.\nTake a Walk for the Arts each First Friday. \nHave fun on your walk about!\n~~~\nPS. DESCRIPTION:Ron Evans\nPop-Cyclicle: Robots\, rayguns & remnants from a time or place that likely never existed.\n\nRon Evans\, a dynamic mixed-media artist rooted in East Wenatchee\, is driven by an unwavering and inexplicable passion for robots\, rayguns\, pinup\, mid-century design\, and pop culture. While his artistic journey began with acrylic paintings and pen & ink illustrations\, Evans has ventured into the realm of 3D artistry\, crafting intricate sculptures from paper\, wire and foamboard. \nWithin his creative philosophy\, 1960s kitsch\, nostalgic tacky motels\, Saturday morning cartoons\, and heavy metal album covers are elevated to the status of ‘fine art’. Evans strives to infuse his creations with both substance and a sense of approachability. \nIn 2015\, Evans opened a tiny art gallery in his home called RadarStation. The success of these shows – focusing mostly on lowbrow street art and pop-surrealism – led to a downtown gallery/bar/venue which operated from 2017-2019. In 2017\, Evans launched The Comet Magazine\, an alternative local-centric arts and entertainment monthly which continues to grow in readership and coverage. \nPop-cyclicle showcases some of the investigations\, interpretations and transgressions that occupy Evan’s creative mind. The more the merrier! We will also have some drums and shakers available to borrow. Also bring your favorite songs and chants – or just join in with the simple songs we teach you.\n\n**BRING YOUR OWN CHAIR and/or BLANKET to be comfortable in the great outdoors.\n***WATER BOTTLE. Drumming can really activate your energy centers and hydration is important!\n\nIt is our goal to always leave a place better than we found it and want to leave no trace. There is a paved walking path that leads out onto the peninsula.
