DESCRIPTION:See it LIVE or listen to it on KPQ on December 17 & rebroadcast on December 24\nDirected by Dani Schafer-Cloke and Foley Director James Wallace\nIn this ingenious meeting of two Victorian classics\, Dr. Watson visits his old friend Sherlock Holmes on Christmas Eve\, finding him in a dark and misanthropic mood\, planning to retire from the dull work of solving crimes. But soon\, Holmes is visited by the ghost of his great enemy Professor Moriarity\, who warns Holmes that he is heading towards his own damnation and tells him of an upcoming visit by three spirits. During the visits that follow\, we learn about Holmes’ childhood and his lost love\, the chaos that his early retirement has caused his friends and associates throughout London\, and finally a terrifying future: Holmes sees himself\, a cold creature of pure intellect\, supplying weapons to the battlefields of the First World War. Waking on Christmas morning\, the repentant Holmes makes amends with his friends and rededicates himself to his higher purpose. \nWhat is an Old Time Radio Show?\nBefore TV took over\, radio was one of the world’s main sources of entertainment. Apart from news\, commercials\, and music\, it also broadcasts shows: dramas\, mysteries\, comedies\, and more. Families in the 1920s through to the 1960s gathered around to listen to what we now call old-time radio shows. SUMMARY:The Mini Quest Tavern presents "The Arcane Rift"
DESCRIPTION:The Mini Quest Tavern is a scripted play\, with costumes\, props\, sound\, and projections to help the audience imagine the locations in the story as the performers move through the room. There is a funny “DM” or Dungeon Master who tells the story\, introduces non-player characters and presides over the action and decisions being made. His word is law\, but if you are familiar with the “Dungeons and Dragons” rule book\, don’t expect this show to contain all the detailed rules and mechanics used in normal tabletop roleplaying. \nWe have a whole campaign\, and multiple combat encounters planned to complete in under two hours. We are here to entertain and make you laugh and cheer. Our simplified rule set is geared for the enjoyment of complete novice and experienced player alike. \nThe show is not for small children\, but great for teens and adults. Tickets are restricted to ages 10 & up. \nThere are two types of tickets. The VIP Player tables will choose the hero who will be their avatar in the show from a selection of ten different characters. They will be given character sheets for their hero\, and the player tables will then work together to make choices when they are presented\, and roll dice to use their talents and skills in battle. \nGeneral Admission ticket holders will sit at separate tables and will have the opportunity to help name characters and places\, and vote on the paths the story will take.The hero characters do not have scripts. They improvise their actions\, reactions\, battles and dialogue with the help of the players who tell them what to do. There are 14 talented local actors in this production.\nMany fans of our show enjoy attending in costume.
