Your story\, poem\, or spoken word can be spooky\, scary\, or sweet\, as long as it is in the spirit of Halloween. \nCostumes are encouraged but not required. Guests will have a chance to compete in our costume contest\, dressed up as your favorite author\, literary monster\, or your own twisted creation. DESCRIPTION:Take Your Four Minutes of Fame on the center stage! \nThe Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center and Write On The River are co-hosting Four Minutes of Fame\, a free open mic for all local writers\, on Wednesday\, May 22. \nFrom 6-9 PM\, writers\, poets\, and spoken word artists will have four minutes max to share their first drafts or polished final pieces during a night of creativity and camaraderie. Whether you want to bask in the spotlight or sit back and celebrate local authors\, this will be an amazing night! \nThe winners of Write On The River’s 2024 Writers Competition will be introduced to the audience at the beginning of this open mic night. \nSign-up is limited to 12 reading slots\, with Zoom access available.  \nThose interested in reading should register no later than Monday\, May 20.

SUMMARY:Earth Day and Poetry Month Celebration at Wenatchee Valley College
DESCRIPTION:Author Kurt Caswell will be visiting Wenatchee Valley College on April 18th to help us celebrate Earth Day and Poetry Month. \nHe will be reading from his work from 7 pm to 8 pm in the Grove Recital Hall. Sharing the stage with him will be the student winners of WVC’s Annual Earth Day Poetry contest. Previous winning poems visible here \nKurt will be serving as the judge for this contest. \nFollowing the reading will be a book signing. Kurt’s most recent collections are Going to See\, Iceland Summer\, and Laika’s Window. \nMore information about Kurt \nAnd the new book\, Going to See \nIn addition to the reading\, Kurt is doing a walk and talk at Jacobson’s Preserve on April 18th from 3 PM to 4:30 PM.
