FISH WAR follows the tribes’ fight to exercise their treaty-reserved fishing rights. A landmark court case in 1974 would affirm the tribes’ treaty rights and establish them as co-managers of the resource\, but the fate of salmon in the Pacific Northwest still hangs in the balance. \nFollowing the screening\, the Indigenous Roots and Reparation Foundation (IRRF) will host a Q&A panel discussing the impacts of this film. \nAdmission is free for both WVMCC and tribal members and $5 for non-members. As the hour unfolds\, the darkened Grove slowly fills with the calls of endangered and native Hawaiian birds\, creating an intimate\, transportive encounter with a landscape few ever hear so clearly.\n\nThe soundscape will start at 5:00 and repeat again at 6:00\, listeners are free to come and go at any time during the piece.\nNick McMahan is a nature sound recordist and environmental advocate known for his unique ability to capture the rarity of the natural world through the art of sound.
